Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges. 

PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. The Opportunity:

The Manager, Youth Lived Experience is a unique leadership role in PYMWHS, supporting the continued development and continuous quality improvement of youth lived experience programs at PYMHWS.  We will value your extensive experience across youth lived experience activities - including consultation, collaboration, co-design and peer work. 

You will provide operational management and support to specific lived experience roles, and lived experience expertise to the leadership group. You will guide us as we grow.

About the Role:

The Manager, Youth Lived Experience provides leadership in youth lived experience, across PYMHWS.  This includes operational support to the Youth Peer Work Specialist, and to the Youth Lived Experience Consultant, and guidance across the wider program regarding youth lived experience – including peer work, consultation, collaboration and co-design.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Provide lived experience leadership and line management to the Youth Lived Experience Consultant, and the Peer Work Specialist
  • Provide lived experience leadership and line management to specified youth peer workers
  • Lead and guide improvement projects across bed-based, subacute and community programs
  • Lead and guide improvement projects that support the capacity of PYMHWS staff to collaborate with, and learn from, lived experience – including through consultation, collaboration, and co-design initiatives
  • Lead the development of approaches to youth lived experience consultation for 12 – 14 year olds

About You:

✔️ Expertise drawn from your own lived and living experiences using the public mental health system

✔️ Experience engaging in lived experience consultation activities, with knowledge of different approaches to consultation, collaboration and co-design

✔️ Experience in delivering youth peer work, with knowledge of the Intentional Peer Support approach to peer work

✔️ Excited to share your expertise, and to learn with others
