EMPLOYMENT STATUS | PERMANENT 80 Hours / Fortnight| 📍 PYMHWS Parkville

Undertake Freedom of Information (FOI) and Release of information (ROI) requests across PYMHWS, and co-ordinate Mental Health Tribunals and associated tasks for the Parkville site.

The Opportunity:

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer / Mental Health Co-ordinator co-ordinates and deliver specialist information tasks across PYMHWS.  You will be responsible for managing Freedom of Information (FOI) and Release of Information (ROI) requests across all PYMHWS; and co-ordinating Mental Health Tribunal meetings for Parkville and HiTH sites.  You will have an integral role in Health Information Service (HIS) in supporting business as usual and the accurate, timely and secure management of health information to support high-quality consumer care.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Health Information Services Manager, the FOI Officer / Mental Health Tribunal Co-ordinator is a full-time ongoing role within the Health Information Service (HIS) team based in Parkville.  HIS ensure the accurate collection, storage, analysis, reporting and protection of clinical information.  The day-to-day activities of the HIS encompass scanning, Freedom of Information (FOI), Release of Information (ROI), data governance and quality compliance, auditing, and medical record management.

The FOI Officer is responsible for assessing and processing FOI applications in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) and PYMHWS policies and procedures. The position also intermittently attends to Release of Information (ROI), Police and Court requests; and co-ordinates Mental Health Tribunals for the Parkville site and HiTH service in accordance with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.

What You'll Do:

  • Process FOI requests (inclusive of subpoenas, witness summons etc.) across PYMHWS from beginning to end including validation of request, compilation of record, co-ordination of review, redaction of information, production of decision letter and release etc.
  • Prepare Mental Health Tribunal hearings for Parkville and HiTH including compilation of paperwork and submission to the Tribunal in accordance with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.
  • Compile, scan and upload documentation to the EMR.
  • Attend and present at meetings and training / information sessions on FOI and MHT as required.

About You:

✔️ Minimum 4 years experience in an administrative, health information management, records management role or similar

✔️ Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders

✔️ Experience in co-ordinating FOI requests, Subpoenas, Witness Summons and Requests for Information

✔️ Understanding of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Act 2022, FOI Act 1982, Health Records Act 2001 and Privacy Act 1988.

✔️ Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and contribute effectively as a supportive team member.
