Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

Our service is made up of compassionate, curious, and committed people. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate Senior Mental Health Clinician to support the leadership of a new team as part of a pilot project.

This is a multidisciplinary role and is open to Grade 4 Registered Psychiatric Nurses or Grade 3 Occupational Therapists, Social Workers or Psychologists.

About the Role:

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will participate in triaging of new referrals to the service: establish what the referrers concerns are for the young persons’ mental health; what the risk factors are; and current supports available. In addition to this, you will also be supporting a growing multidisciplinary team of clinicians.

This role will foster growth, preserve culture of the team, and be involved in review processes, which involve innovation, and to ensure team cohesion and a positive work environment. This role with also involve development of key relationships both internally and externally. The position will report into the Region B CCT Coordinator and receive regular supervision, professional development and training opportunities. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Provide clinical leadership, management, training and supervision of a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to a culture of caring, teamwork, continuous improvement, constructive performance review, quality work standards and client service
  • Manage and undertake mental health and risk assessment, psychological treatment, crisis intervention, family work and systems containment
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of community partnerships, developing effective interfaces within streams and programs and facilitating relevant research activities
  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds 

About You:

A mental health clinician experienced in, and passionate about, early intervention and evidence-based care for young people experiencing ill mental health.

✔️ Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3

✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)

✔️ Minimum 5 years’ experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health. Comprehensive experience in clinical practice and provision of mental health assessment, treatment and case management, including with young people in a tertiary mental health service

✔️ Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client-centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations

✔️ Motivated by youth-focused, inclusive, and recovery-oriented care
