Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Educator who is passionate about supporting the learning and practice development of an inter-professional youth mental health workforce. Our Clinical Training team focuses on building the capacity of both shared and specialist competencies required by those working in teams that support both early intervention and young people with complex and co-occurring difficulties.

The Senior Clinical Educator is a key leadership position within the PYMHWS Clinical Training team, responsible for the provision of leadership and innovation in clinical education and practice development. Develop collaborative partnerships within PYMHWS and with external partners such as Orygen, the Victorian Collaborative Centre and other statewide trainers, to plan and develop training programs and initiatives consistent with best practice in youth mental health.

About the Role:

The Senior Clinical Educator will specifically support the Clinical Training Coordinator and the multi-disciplinary team of Clinical Educators to build the capacity of the youth mental health workforce across Victoria and PYMHWS.

Build and maintain partnerships with statewide mental health services, and deliver training that is easily accessible online and in-person across Victoria.  Work collaboratively with the PYMHWS clinical leadership and workforce directors on workforce learning and development initiatives that are in line with the strategic direction and vision of PYMHWS.

This may involve undertaking specific time-limited project work of relevance in collaboration with the research and knowledge translation programs, to support quality assurance practices and enable model and practice change.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Provide leadership and support in the Clinical Training team to ensure innovative and high standards in our training and practice development activities in areas such as clinical supervision and reflective practice
  • Work closely with the Clinical Training Manager to plan and deliver a comprehensive calendar of training and activities for our statewide calendar and internal PYMHWS training
  • Work closely with the Clinical Training manager to develop and support collaborative partnerships with PYMHWS Clinical Leadership and Workforce Directors and with external partners; Victorian Collaborative Centre, Orygen and statewide training initiatives
  • Work in partnership with the lived experience workforce (young people, family, carers, supporters and kin) to ensure they are meaningfully involved in training and learning activities.
  • Participate in quality management, accreditation and ongoing improvement activities.

 

About You:

You are passionate about the mental health of young people, their carers, supporters and kin and believe that creating a compassionate and competent inter-professional workforce will support best practice in a young person’s recovery and wellbeing. 

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in your area of practice
  • Relevant experience as senior clinician in child and adolescent mental health (especially 12-25 years), including the provision of clinical supervision and reflective practice
  • Relevant experience and skills developing and delivering training and learning programs, including online formats  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Passionate and motivated to strengthen a confident, competent and compassionate youth mental health workforce
