Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator is part of a highly skilled and enthusiastic Allied Health Workforce team, experienced in workforce education and the delivery of best practice and evidence-based early intervention to young people. Under the guidance of the Director of Allied Health and in collaboration with PYMHWS Clinical Training team, the workforce team lead and support professional governance, development and clinical practice across the Allied Health disciplines and associated programs, ensuring maintenance of professional competency standards and alignment with the Victorian Mental Health & Wellbeing Workforce Capability Framework and PYMHWS policy frameworks. This includes development and coordination of professional supervision, student placements and the PYMHWS Allied Health Graduate & Early Careers Programs.

About the Role:
The Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator is responsible for the educational oversight, facilitation and strategic development of education initiatives that support clinical practice across the Occupational Therapy profession at PYMHWS. The role will work closely with the PYMHWS Clinical Training Team and workforce leadership to develop, coordinate and deliver both Occupational Therapy and interprofessional education opportunities and support to staff, including the shared development and coordination of the PYMHWS Allied Health Graduate and Early Career program.
A key priority of the role is to support the Graduate and Early Career Occupational Therapy Program, maintaining appropriate scope of practice for early career clinicians in a mental healthsetting.. The role will therefore work in collaboration with the Allied Health Discipline Seniors, Clinical Educators and PYMHWS Clinical leaders, contributing by building relationships, identifying and facilitating strategies that address the workforce learning and development needs, and providing leadership around training and education for the Occupational Therapyworkforce.
This position joins a team of Allied Health Educators and will be largely geographically based at our Parkville site, with some travel across the PYMHWS Sunshine, Footscray and Wyndham sites expected.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, coordinate and deliver educational initiatives and training for early career clinicians
- Support the supervision and best practice of Occupational Therapists at PYMHWS
- Collaborate with educators and leaders across PYMHWS and external agencies to identify opportunities and support the ongoing development of the Occupational Therapyprofession in mental health
About You:
You are passionate about the role of Occupational Therapyin Youth Mental Health and have a strong interest in education and workforce development.
✔️ Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy.
✔️ Registered with OT Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
✔️ 10 years’ experience in clinical practice within the mental health field with specific training and experience in the area of child and youth mental health
✔️ Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering learning and development programs in Occupational Therapy or Mental Health settings.
✔️ Demonstrated experience working with large and diverse groups of stakeholders.
✔️ Demonstrated skills and experience in professional (clinical) supervision; reflective practice, conducting training sessions and facilitating groups in a multidisciplinary context.
✔️ Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, including an understanding of and ability to contribute to positive workforce culture, staff wellbeing, and leadership initiatives.
✔️ Capacity to develop effective working relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with a range of services.
✔️ Values ongoing professional development and supported training
